Fatal Gurnee car crash death of Kyle Debevec – Obituary
Kyle Debevec, a 26-year-old resident of Gurnee, lost his life in a devastating single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning. The accident occurred around 2:05 a.m. in unincorporated Gurnee near Stearns School Road and Mill Creek Drive.
Authorities reported that Debevec was driving a Mercedes-Benz when the vehicle veered off the south side of the road and collided with a tree. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the heavily damaged car with Debevec trapped inside. Emergency responders worked to extricate him before transporting him to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries.
Despite efforts to save him, Debevec succumbed to his injuries a few hours later in the hospital’s intensive care unit. An autopsy confirmed that he died from blunt force trauma consistent with a crash, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team is continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
