Fatal Cumming, GA truck crash death of Crystal Sawyer – Obituary

Crystal Sawyer, 44, lost her life Monday morning after being struck by a truck in the parking lot of the City of Cumming Water Facilities, officials confirmed Wednesday.

 

The incident occurred around 7 a.m. at the Dahlonega Highway location. Sawyer, an inventory clerk with the Cumming Utilities Distribution and Collection Division, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to city officials. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Specialist Unit is investigating the crash.

 

City Administrator Phil Higgins expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Sawyer as a valued employee with a vibrant personality who brought joy to those around her. He emphasized how devastating her passing has been for city staff and extended condolences to her loved ones.

 

Sawyer joined the City of Cumming on September 8, 2020, initially working in the Utilities Billing Division before transitioning to her most recent role in June 2023. A native of Dawsonville, she was born on August 29, 1980.

 

To honor her memory, the city will fly flags at half-staff from Friday through March 21.

 

Visitation services are scheduled for Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at McDonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family welcomes floral tributes and donations to the Humane Society of Forsyth County in her name.
