A tragic accident in Slidell claimed the life of a Florida man over the weekend after he was struck by a vehicle.
According to the Slidell Police Department, the incident occurred around midnight on Sunday, March 16, along Highway 190 near Northshore Boulevard. Officers responded to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered a man with severe injuries. Despite attempts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The St. Tammany Parish Coroner later identified the victim as 27-year-old Trevor Carter of Florida. Investigators determined that Carter had been walking in a poorly lit area while wearing dark clothing when he was hit by a westbound 2016 Chrysler 200.
Police stated that impairment was not suspected on the part of the driver, but toxicology results for Carter are still pending.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
