Fatal Greenville County car crash death of Aaron Joseph Lowry and Cody Isaiah Russell – Obituary
Aaron Joseph Lowry, 18, of Anderson, and Cody Isaiah Russell, 20, of Easley, lost their lives in a fiery crash on Interstate 85 in Greenville County early Sunday morning.
According to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to stop a Honda Accord near Anderson Road and White Horse Road around 1:45 a.m., but the vehicle did not pull over, leading to a brief chase. Authorities later canceled the pursuit near White Horse Road and I-85.
Shortly afterward, emergency responders were called to a crash at the Exit 44 ramp on I-85 South, where a vehicle had veered off the left side of the road and struck a concrete barrier before catching fire.
Officials believe the crashed car was the same one involved in the earlier pursuit. Both Lowry and Russell were pronounced dead at the scene. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.
