Donald Rasmussen, a 30-year-old man from Spanaway, lost his life in a high-speed collision near South Hill on March 4.
The accident occurred near the 17100 block of 122nd Avenue East when Rasmussen, driving a gold sedan at excessive speed, attempted to pass a school bus and crashed into a white SUV. Pierce County deputies responded to the scene at 7:22 a.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Rasmussen was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple blunt-force injuries. The driver of the SUV, a woman, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, though her condition was not considered life-threatening.
The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death an accident, and authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
