Fatal North Lawndale shooting death of Amari Williams – Obituary
Amari Williams, a 13-year-old student from Mason Elementary School, tragically lost his life in a shooting on Monday, March 17, 2025.
At approximately 2:10 a.m., his body was discovered in the backyard of an apartment building on South Kildare Avenue, where he had been shot in the head. Despite the gunfire, no 911 calls were made to report the incident.
Williams’ mother had reported him missing before his body was found. Authorities have yet to determine how long he had been injured before being discovered.
The area where the shooting occurred was previously covered by ShotSpotter, a gunshot detection system, until the city ended its contract last September.
Investigators with Area Four detectives are working on the case, but no arrests have been made.
