Jennifer Brewington, a 43-year-old woman, tragically lost her life after being electrocuted by downed power lines following severe storms in St. Louis County.
The incident occurred early Saturday morning when police responded to a report of a possible electrocution around 12:15 a.m.
Upon arriving at her home, officers discovered Brewington in the backyard near electrical lines. She was declared dead at the scene.
Brewington, who had been assessing storm damage in her backyard, likely encountered the downed power line.
Local authorities are treating the death as storm-related, and County Executive Sam Page expressed his sorrow, emphasizing the dangers of downed power lines, especially when they aren’t immediately visible.
Her passing has been added to the list of storm fatalities, which now includes 12 deaths across the state, with Brewington being the only fatality in St. Louis County.
