Fatal Highlands Ranch auto-pedestrian crash death of Luke Peterson – Obituary

Luke Peterson, 31, of Highlands Ranch, lost his life Sunday in a tragic auto-pedestrian collision, authorities confirmed.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Kendrick Castillo Way and Mayberry Drive while Peterson was out walking his dog. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported that the driver, 19-year-old Cade Kaminski, remained at the scene and was later arrested on multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, reckless driving, and cruelty to animals.

Investigators believe Kaminski may have fallen asleep at the wheel before veering onto the sidewalk, striking Peterson and his dog. The dog was transported to a veterinary clinic but did not survive.
