The victim of a fatal crash near Bull Valley on March 3 has been identified as 25-year-old Nathaniel Hofmann of Wonder Lake.
According to McHenry County Coroner Michael Rein, Hofmann was killed in a fiery crash when his vehicle collided with a tree.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:50 p.m. on the 8200 block of Mason Hill Road. Emergency responders from the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District arrived to find the vehicle completely engulfed in flames.
The car’s fuel tank had ruptured, intensifying the fire. Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters discovered remains inside the vehicle.
The McHenry County Coroner’s Office, in collaboration with the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. Further details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
