Fatal Orange Cove shooting death of Rudy Veloz – Obituary
Rudy Veloz, 34, was tragically shot and killed on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at the Orchard Village Apartment Complex in Orange Cove.
At around 1:10 p.m., Fresno County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received reports of shots fired at the complex located on South Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found Veloz inside an apartment suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was conscious at the time and received medical aid before being transported to Reedley Hospital, where he later passed away.
Investigators believe Veloz knew his assailant, a 16-year-old male who was located and arrested with the help of the Sheriff’s helicopter.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Homicide Unit is investigating the case, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Authorities urge anyone with further information to come forward.
