A tragic multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 40 near Holbrook, Arizona, claimed the lives of five individuals on March 14. Authorities have now identified the victims of this devastating accident, which occurred around 1:30 p.m. near milepost 294.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the crash was triggered when a commercial tractor-trailer rear-ended a Cadillac Escalade. This impact set off a chain reaction that involved a Jeep Wrangler and another commercial truck.
The deceased victims were identified as Samuel Case, 51, and Sarah Broyel-Case, 50, both from Fort Collins, Colorado; Jeet Vikram, 34, of Ozone Park, New York; Sophia Case, 17, also of Fort Collins; and Adam Mychajliw, 17, of Scottsdale, Arizona.
In addition to those who lost their lives, two other individuals sustained injuries in the crash, though officials did not specify the extent of their conditions.
Authorities have not yet determined whether any charges will be filed in connection with the incident, but the investigation remains active. The collision took place amid significant traffic congestion caused by detours from winter storm-related road closures in northern Arizona. Officials have stated that further details will be provided as the inquiry progresses.
This fatal crash follows another deadly accident on Interstate 40 near Williams just one day prior, in which two people lost their lives.
