Fatal Las Cruces, New Mexico, shooting deaths of Andrew Madrid, Jason Gomez, and Dominick Estrada – Obituary
Three young men, Andrew Madrid, 16, Jason Gomez, 18, and Dominick Estrada, 19, lost their lives in a violent shooting at an unsanctioned car show in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on Friday night. The gunfire, which erupted at Young Park around 10:10 p.m., left 15 others injured, with victims ranging in age from 16 to 36.
Authorities reported that the violence stemmed from a dispute between two rival groups attending the gathering. Witnesses described a chaotic scene as as many as 60 shots were fired, sending attendees scrambling for cover.
Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the shooting: Tomas Rivas, 20, along with two 17-year-old boys and a 15-year-old boy. Rivas is being held without bond at the Dona Ana County Detention Center, while the juveniles are in a detention facility. Each suspect faces three counts of murder.
Several of the injured were transported to University Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, while others received treatment at local hospitals.
Authorities are urging anyone with video footage or images from the scene to come forward to assist in the investigation.
