Fatal Nessel Township car crash death of Anthony Sobaski – Obituary

Anthony Sobaski, a 4-year-old boy, tragically passed away after sustaining critical injuries in a head-on collision in Nessel Township on March 14.

Authorities say Anthony was a passenger in a Chevrolet Cruze driven by his mother, Ashlee Rose Klapperick, when the vehicle crossed the centerline and crashed into a Chrysler minivan around 6:15 p.m. First responders found Anthony unresponsive at the scene but were able to restore a pulse through chest compressions. He was airlifted to a Twin Cities hospital with a severe brain injury but succumbed to his injuries on March 20.

Klapperick’s 3-year-old child, who was also in the car, suffered a broken collarbone. The driver and three children in the minivan sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities suspect Klapperick was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time of the crash. She now faces multiple charges, including criminal vehicular homicide. The Chisago County Attorney’s Office has announced elevated charges in response to Anthony’s passing.

The incident remains under investigation.
