A 21-year-old man from Jackson, identified as Cortez George, tragically lost his life in a shooting incident on the afternoon of March 22, 2025. The shooting took place near the intersection of Lamar and Pearl Streets, just as the crowd from Hal’s St. Paddy’s Parade was still downtown. According to the Hinds County Interim Coroner Jeramiah Howard, George died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Several other individuals were also injured in the shooting, but authorities have not provided an exact number of victims. The injured were taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for treatment. As of Sunday afternoon, no arrests have been made, and police have not shared further updates on the case.
