A shooting in east Wichita on Saturday morning claimed the life of 24-year-old Demarc Burgess. The incident occurred around 3:45 a.m. on the 14000 block of East Twinlake Drive, near East Kellogg and South 143rd Street. Officers arrived to find Burgess suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the shooting stemmed from a disturbance between Burgess and the shooter, who were reportedly acquaintances. Authorities have confirmed that the shooting was not random and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The identity of the shooter has not yet been released, and no arrests have been made.
