On March 14, 2025, a tragic plane crash near the Pitt-Greenville Airport in Greenville, North Carolina, claimed the lives of Dr. Mark Steven Bowman and his wife, Robin Elaine Bowman. The victims were aboard a Beech A36 Bonanza aircraft when it crashed near the intersection of North Memorial Drive and Belvoir Road. The couple was not able to survive the crash, and no other survivors were found at the scene.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirmed the discovery of human remains at the site of the crash, while the Federal Aviation Administration reported that two people were on board at the time. The crash led to road closures, with North Memorial Drive being shut down for a significant portion of the day before reopening later that afternoon. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
