Everett Lee Stover dies in fatal Charleston homicide investigation

Fatal Charleston homicide death of Everett Lee Stover – Obituary

Everett Lee Stover, 67, was found deceased at 66 1/2 Lee Street on March 4, 2025, and has been identified by the Charleston County Coroner. Following an in-depth examination of his remains, it was determined that he had suffered trauma, leading the Charleston Police Department to open a homicide investigation.

Stover, a Charleston resident, had a history of struggling with addiction after being partially crushed by a forklift. Detectives believe he was killed after being last seen on October 1, 2024.

Authorities are now seeking information on three known associates of Stover: Michael James Snell, 49, of California; Jerry Alvin Jones, Jr., 43, of North Carolina; and Barbara Crystall Surrett, 37, also of North Carolina. Police urge anyone with relevant information to come forward.
