A 15-year-old girl who was struck and killed at a crosswalk in Scarborough on Wednesday morning has been identified as Christina Huang, a Grade 9 student at Albert Campbell Collegiate Institute.
According to Toronto police, the incident occurred just before 10 a.m. at the intersection of Brimley Road and Brimwood Boulevard. Huang was in the crosswalk when a black Honda CRV, driven by a 44-year-old woman making a left turn, hit her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver remained at the location and is cooperating with the police. Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the collision.
Local residents have expressed concerns over road safety in the area, citing frequent speeding and traffic violations. City officials are now looking into possible measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future. Authorities are asking anyone with information or video footage of the incident to come forward.
