Fatal Marin County, California death of Ho Yu Wong – Obituary
Ho Yu Wong, a 78-year-old fisherman from Oakland, tragically passed away after being swept into the ocean at Rodeo Beach on Tuesday afternoon. While fishing for mussels along the shoreline, he was pulled into the surf by a wave.
A nearby surfer managed to retrieve Wong’s body from the water, and bystanders attempted to perform CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:19 p.m. The coroner’s office determined that Wong had gone into cardiac arrest after being rescued. The cause of death is still under investigation, pending further testing by the coroner’s division and other authorities.
