Lauren Leath Rubino, a 42-year-old Birmingham resident, lost her life after falling from the top of a downtown parking structure. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed her identity on Wednesday following the tragic incident at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex parking deck.
Authorities responded to the location at 2200 Ninth Avenue North late Monday night, where they determined that Rubino had fallen from the sixth floor onto the sidewalk below. It was not immediately clear when the fall occurred, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates.
Emergency responders pronounced her deceased at 11:40 p.m. Investigators have since reviewed security footage from the area, and there is no initial evidence of foul play. However, the case remains under investigation.
