A 24-year-old Pomona man, Rick Rodriguez, tragically passed away following a wrong-way crash on the 60 Freeway in Pomona.
The crash occurred just after 11 p.m. on Saturday when Rodriguez drove east in the westbound lanes of the freeway. He collided with a Honda Civic near Reservoir Street. Rodriguez was initially taken to Pomona Valley Hospital with minor injuries before being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The crash claimed the lives of two women, 29-year-old Jazmin Guadalupe Ramos and 39-year-old Raquel Moreno, as well as a 1-year-old child, Ezra Aziel Espinoza. The two women were pronounced dead at the scene, while the infant was rushed to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Tragically, the child was later taken off life support on Tuesday after showing no signs of recovery.
Rodriguez’s death marks the tragic conclusion of a series of events that began with a wrong-way driving incident in Pomona.
