Authorities in Fort Dodge have identified the man who died after falling from a third-story window during a fire in an apartment building last week.
Shawn L. Gully, 49, of Fort Dodge, was confirmed as the deceased, with investigators stating that he succumbed to injuries sustained in the fall on March 19.
Initially, emergency responders were dispatched to the 1000 block of First Avenue South following reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered Gully unresponsive on the sidewalk outside the apartment complex. However, police later clarified that there was no evidence of a gunshot wound.
The circumstances surrounding the fire and the events leading up to Gully’s fall remain under investigation.
