Harold Nagata, 46, was fatally shot on March 28, 2025, during a neighborly dispute near the 4400 block of 60th Street Court East in Tacoma.
According to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office, Nagata died from a gunshot wound to the head, and his death has been ruled a homicide.
The incident occurred in the afternoon when the 43-year-old alleged shooter called 911, reporting that he had shot his neighbor after the confrontation escalated. The man claimed that Nagata had attempted to strangle him. Deputies who arrived at the scene found Nagata unresponsive and declared him dead at the location.
The shooter cooperated with authorities and was not initially arrested, as the situation was considered a case of self-defense. However, prosecutors will decide whether charges will be filed against him.
