Fatal Fort Wayne shooting death of Jeremiah Donald Lothamer – Obituary
Jeremiah Donald Lothamer, 46, was fatally shot Sunday evening in the 1600 block of Hinton Drive, northwest of downtown Fort Wayne. He was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at around 7:30 p.m. and later died in the hospital.
Following the shooting, a police chase ensued, leading officers to Whitley County, where the suspect, Christifer Debus, 38, was located.
After crashing his vehicle and firing at officers, a standoff occurred. Debus was later found dead at the scene. Investigators have ruled Lothamer’s death a homicide, and Debus was the only person involved in the incident.
