Fatal Richmond motorcycle crash death of Johnson Chen – Obituary
The Richmond Police Department has identified the man who lost his life in a motorcycle accident late Monday night as 23-year-old Johnson Chen, a California resident.
The incident occurred around 10:49 p.m. on April 21, near the intersection of South Ninth Street and Semmes Avenue. Chen was heading southbound on the bridge when his motorcycle left the roadway for unknown reasons.
When emergency personnel arrived, they discovered Chen unresponsive at the scene. He was pronounced dead shortly after.
Preliminary findings by the crash investigation team suggest Chen may have been riding recklessly before the accident. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will provide the official cause and manner of death as the investigation continues.
