A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Tulsa County on Sunday afternoon when a car was swept away by floodwaters while attempting to cross a low bridge.
The vehicle, which had four occupants, was submerged in high water, and while the father and two children managed to escape, 46-year-old Leila Seyed Faraji and her 7-year-old daughter Rosa could not. Leila and Rosa’s bodies were found later after a search operation.
The search, which involved around 100 emergency responders, culminated with the discovery of Rosa’s body just after 5 p.m. on Monday. Authorities have urged people to avoid driving through flooded areas, especially as the rainy season continues.
