Fatal Coles County plane crash death of Ross R. Nelson – Obituary

Authorities have released the names of four individuals from Menomonie, Wisconsin, who perished in a small plane crash in south central Illinois. Ross R. Nelson, 46, was among those who died, along with Raimi A. Rundle, 45; Courtney L. Morrow, 36; and Michael H. Morrow, 48.

 

The crash took place during the morning hours of April 19, near the rural community of Trilla, located roughly three miles south of Mattoon and about two hours from Springfield. The aircraft, a single-engine plane, went down west of the village. Tragically, all four people on board were killed.

 

Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have launched an investigation to determine what led to the accident. As of the evening of April 20, the wreckage remained on the roadway, which had been shut down, according to the Illinois State Police.
