Fatal Manteca electric scooter crash death of Steven Wilson – Obituary
Steven Wilson, 57, lost his life after a crash involving his electric scooter in Manteca on Friday evening, according to the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities say the incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the 200 block of North Airport Way. Wilson had reportedly been riding in the street when he attempted to cross to the west side and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
At the time, his brother and daughter were also riding scooters but remained off the roadway and were not injured in the incident.
The driver involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Manteca police are currently examining whether Wilson was using any protective gear and if his scooter’s lights were operational during the crash.
A GoFundMe campaign has since been launched to support Wilson’s family during this difficult time.
