Vicente Islas Gomez, 50, was struck and killed while attempting to cross Central Avenue South in Kent on the night of April 21. The incident occurred just north of South 259th Street around 8:47 p.m., according to local police.
Gomez was hit by a vehicle driven by a 68-year-old man from Auburn. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed on April 23 that Gomez died from multiple blunt force injuries, ruling his death accidental.
Witnesses reported that Gomez moved from the center turn lane into the southbound lane when he was struck. Authorities noted that the driver remained on the scene and fully cooperated with the investigation, including undergoing tests for possible impairment, which were initially found not to be a factor.
Police continue to look into the incident as part of their ongoing inquiry.
