A 24-year-old motorcyclist, Bianey Franco, tragically passed away following a crash in midtown Tucson on the evening of April 23, 2025. The Tucson Police Department reported that officers arrived at the scene, the intersection of East Broadway Boulevard and North Arcadia Avenue, around 7:25 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a motorcycle and a 2007 Lincoln SUV had collided.

Franco, who was wearing a helmet, was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries, but she was later declared deceased. Police stated that her family has been informed of the tragic news.

Traffic investigators, crime scene units, and officers from the Impaired Driving Enforcement Unit were called to the scene to conduct an investigation. According to their findings, Franco was heading westbound on Broadway, traveling in the middle lane, when the SUV attempted to turn left onto Arcadia Avenue. This maneuver led to the fatal collision.

Investigators concluded that the crash was primarily caused by the SUV driver’s failure to yield and Franco’s excessive speed. The SUV driver remained at the scene and was unharmed. As of April 23, the Tucson Police Department reported that this marks the fifth motorcycle-related fatality in the city this year, with a total of 22 traffic-related deaths in Tucson in 2025. The investigation into the incident continues, but no charges or citations have been filed yet.
