Carlos Enriquez dies in fatal Chula Vista police shooting
Fatal Chula Vista shooting death of Carlos Enriquez – Obituary.
Carlos Enriquez, a 56-year-old man, was fatally shot by Chula Vista police officers early on Saturday morning in Bonita, California. The incident took place in the 1400 block of Country Vistas Lane after officers responded to a domestic disturbance call. Upon arriving, they learned that Enriquez, who was reportedly armed, was inside the house.
After Enriquez emerged from the home with his hands in his pockets, he was ordered to raise them. When he removed his hands from his pockets and dropped a firearm on the steps, officers commanded him to move away from the gun. Enriquez instead sat down, retrieved the weapon, and pointed it toward the officers, prompting them to open fire, fatally wounding him.
A second handgun was found on Enriquez, and medics later declared him dead at the hospital. The officers involved in the shooting were Agent Thomas Luhta and Officers Roman Buyson and Alfonso Perdomo, who have 11, 5, and 7 years of experience, respectively. The San Diego Police Department is investigating the incident.
