Vincent Morin, a 34-year-old U.S. Army veteran, was killed by Hillsborough deputies after a confrontation in Brandon, Florida. Deputies responded to a report of a man walking with tactical gear and a rifle near Causeway Boulevard on April 23. After ordering Morin to drop his weapon, deputies opened fire when he failed to comply. Morin, who had served multiple tours in Afghanistan and Iraq, struggled with PTSD after his discharge. His friend and fellow veteran, Kolten Ollom, described him as non-hostile, suggesting his actions were reflective of military training protocols. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident.
