Emily Grace Meyer, a 30-year-old resident of Temple, has been identified by Texas authorities as the woman who lost her life in a deadly crash on Highway 36 Thursday evening. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that Meyer was driving too fast for the slick, rain-covered roads when she lost control of her vehicle.
Her car veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup driven by a 62-year-old man from Hamilton. Meyer was declared dead at the scene.
The crash led to a closure of both directions of the highway near the Belton Lake long bridge, where investigators worked for hours before reopening the road. The truck’s driver was evaluated for injuries. Officials have contacted Meyer’s family, and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains ongoing.
