Fatal Covington plane crash death of Janet Hardee and James Hardee – Obituary
Janet Hardee, 59, and James Hardee, 62, both from Covington, have been confirmed as the two individuals who lost their lives in a Saturday night plane crash, according to the Newton County Coroner’s Office. The tragic event unfolded when a single-engine plane departed from the Covington Municipal Airport around 11 p.m. Shortly after takeoff, all contact with the aircraft ceased. Covington Police officers, alerted by the Federal Aviation Administration, arrived at the scene around 11:21 p.m. and found the wreckage in a wooded area just north of the runway. Sadly, both occupants were pronounced dead at the site. Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing, led by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.
