Fatal Spartanburg car crash death of Mark Girgorchuk – Obituary
Mark Girgorchuk, a 24-year-old from Inman, has been identified as the victim who lost his life in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Spartanburg.
According to police, the crash happened around 1:45 a.m. near the intersection of West Saint John Street and Stevens Street. A witness told officers that a BMW traveling in the right lane of West Saint John Street struck a cement curb, veered off the roadway, and crashed into a tree close to Stevens Street.
The BMW was carrying a driver and two passengers at the time. Mark Girgorchuk, one of the passengers, was pronounced dead shortly after the collision, with the coroner listing his time of death between 1:55 a.m. and 1:59 a.m.
Authorities reported that both the driver and the second passenger survived the crash. The Spartanburg City Police Department is actively investigating the incident as they work to determine all contributing factors.
