Fatal Minneapolis shooting death of Zakaria Abdikafi Noor – Obituary
Zakaria Abdikafi Noor, a 23-year-old man from Oakdale, was fatally shot while driving through downtown Minneapolis earlier this month.
The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 18, near the intersection of 5th Avenue South and 9th Street South.
Authorities say Noor was behind the wheel when he was shot, causing him to collide with a vehicle carrying a family. Despite the crash, he managed to drive another block before coming to a stop near 3rd Avenue South and 9th Street South.
Officers responding to the scene found Noor slumped over in his vehicle, suffering from at least one critical gunshot wound. They quickly administered emergency care and were able to revive his heartbeat.
He was rushed to Hennepin County Medical Center, but despite medical efforts, he passed away on Thursday.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office officially identified him as Zakaria Abdikafi Noor and listed his cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds.
As of Friday, authorities had not made any arrests related to the shooting.
