PINE COVE, CA — Cheryl Brault, 71, of Yucca Valley, tragically died on Monday, April 21, after her SUV plunged down a mountainside near Pine Cove. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. along Mount Edna Road, just west of Highway 243.
A motorist driving along the area spotted Brault’s 1998 Grand Jeep Cherokee over the side of the mountain about an hour after the crash and immediately alerted authorities. Riverside County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, where they found Brault deceased at the wheel of the vehicle. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) continues to investigate the cause of the crash, with no indication yet regarding whether drugs or alcohol played a role. Authorities are also unsure of her destination at the time of the accident. The CHP is asking anyone with information to contact its San Gorgonio office at 951-846-5300.
