NEWINGTON, Conn. — Maritza Smith, 56, of New Britain, has been identified as the fourth victim in a deadly three-car crash that occurred Saturday morning in Newington. The crash, which took place at around 9 a.m. near the intersection of Willard Avenue and Greenlawn Avenue, also claimed the lives of 17-year-old Gabriela Difo, her 50-year-old mother Florinda Tineo, and her 48-year-old aunt Jeannette Tineo. The family had been known for their kindness and strong community ties, as described by those who mourned them at St. Mary Church in New Britain. Authorities believe speed may have contributed to the accident, and the Mid-State Accident Reconstruction Squad is continuing to investigate the incident.
