Fatal Bryan Station Road crash death of Matthew Perrine – Obituary

Matthew Perrine, a junior at Frederick Douglass High School and a member of the school’s baseball team, lost his life in a tragic car crash on Bryan Station Road Saturday afternoon.

Authorities from the Lexington Police Department reported that the accident occurred around 3 p.m. in the 3500 block of Bryan Station Road, involving two vehicles in a head-on collision. There were seven people in total between the two cars.

The Fayette County Coroner confirmed that 17-year-old Matthew Perrine died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained during the collision. In addition to Perrine’s death, one individual was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, while another was listed in serious condition. Four others suffered minor injuries and were also taken to the hospital.

In response to the tragedy, Frederick Douglass High School announced that a Crisis Response Team will be on campus Monday to offer counseling and emotional support to both students and staff members mourning the sudden loss of Matthew.

The crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
