Fatal Statesboro shooting death of Mikeal Hamilton – Obituary
Mikeal Hamilton, a 24-year-old from Norcross, lost his life early Friday morning after a shooting at Campus Crossings on Lanier Drive in Statesboro, Georgia. Officers from the Statesboro Police Department arrived around 12:30 a.m. to find two individuals who had been shot.
Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene, while Ian Lamar Rumph, also 24 years old, was rushed to East Georgia Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Following an investigation, authorities arrested Steven Williams, 21, of Augusta, charging him with murder and aggravated assault. Joseph Miles, 18, and Malik Rashad Freeman, 19, both residents of Lanier Drive, were also taken into custody and charged with misdemeanor obstruction and making false statements, a felony.
The suspects were detained at Campus Crossings and later transported to the Statesboro Police Department for questioning. They are currently being held at the Bulloch County Jail pending further legal proceedings.
During the ongoing investigation, the Statesboro-Bulloch Crime Suppression Team also made several drug-related arrests at the same apartment complex.
