Alexis Ashanti McGill, a 28-year-old woman from Sacramento, lost her life after allegedly being attacked by her ex-boyfriend while she was sitting in a vehicle outside her workplace in Citrus Heights, California.

 

Authorities report that the incident happened last Thursday morning. After the assault, McGill’s family rushed her to Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District Station #21 on Greenback Lane around 10:15 a.m. Emergency responders then transported her to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

 

The Citrus Heights Police Department identified the suspect as 30-year-old Kyron Jamar Mason, who later surrendered himself to law enforcement at the Sacramento County Main Jail. Jail records show Mason was booked at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

 

Investigators revealed that McGill had previously secured a restraining order against Mason, and that he had a documented history of domestic violence. Authorities said Mason had been the subject of multiple restraining orders involving different victims and had several prior arrests for domestic abuse in Sacramento County.

 

Mason is currently charged with murder and is being held without bail. He is scheduled to appear in Sacramento County Superior Court on Monday afternoon.
