Fatal Banning house fire deaths of Chris and Dora Palacios – Obituary
Chris and Dora Palacios, elderly siblings, were tragically killed in a house fire that broke out early Saturday morning in Banning, California.
The blaze ignited around 4:50 a.m. at a single-story home on John Street near Hargrave Street, just south of Interstate 10. Firefighters from the Riverside County Fire Department responded quickly, sending six engine crews to the scene. They encountered heavy smoke and flames upon arrival.
Two individuals managed to escape the burning home and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. They took themselves to a nearby hospital for medical care, authorities said.
The fire was brought under control by 5:20 a.m., but firefighters found Chris and Dora Palacios deceased inside the residence. Officials have not confirmed why the two siblings were unable to escape.
Cal Fire investigators were called to determine the origin of the fire, but the exact cause remains undetermined as of Monday.
A relative, Daniel Palacios, created a GoFundMe campaign to help with funeral expenses, sharing the family’s deep sorrow and asking for prayers and support. As of Monday afternoon, the fundraiser had collected approximately $8,500.
A candlelight vigil honoring Chris and Dora Palacios was scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday at their residence on East John Street. Funeral arrangements are still being finalized.
