Fatal Pelham house fire death of Christopher Bartlett – Obituary

Christopher Bartlett, 31, tragically lost his life in an early morning fire on Friday at his residence on 109 North Valley Road in Pelham, Massachusetts. Officials confirmed his identity on Monday.

Bartlett, a 2012 graduate of Amherst Regional High School, was found deceased inside the severely damaged home after initially being reported missing. He was the son of the late Robert Bartlett, a former Select Board member, and Stella Svoboda Bartlett.

The fire, which erupted around 2:30 a.m., was reported by a passerby. When Pelham firefighters arrived, they encountered flames pouring through the roof and windows. The fire caused significant structural collapse to the building’s roof and walls, though crews managed to control most of the blaze within an hour.

Investigators from the Pelham Fire and Police departments, the State Fire Marshal’s office, and State Police assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney’s office are working to determine the fire’s origin and cause. So far, authorities believe the incident is not suspicious in nature.
