Fatal Columbus shooting death of Jamal Jones – Obituary

Jamal Jones, 34, has been identified as the man who was shot and killed early Monday morning on the East Side of Columbus.

According to Columbus police, officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire around 4:08 a.m. in the 1300 block of Fountain Lane, located within the Villages at Eden Crossing apartment complex near East Main Street, south of Whitehall. Upon arrival, they found Jones with a gunshot wound.

Medics from the Columbus Division of Fire transported Jones to Mount Carmel East Hospital, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at 4:38 a.m.

At this time, no arrests have been made and no information about a suspect has been released. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
