Fatal Bakersfield hit-and-run death of John Dwayne Ross – Obituary

John Dwayne Ross, 48, lost his life in a hit-and-run crash on Chester Avenue in Bakersfield during the early hours of April 23.

According to the Kern County Coroner’s Office, Ross had been walking just north of West Columbus Street around 3:56 a.m. when a truck struck him. He died at the scene.

 

Authorities later arrested 35-year-old Bobby Lemons, who is accused of being the driver involved in the incident. Witnesses reported seeing the victim thrown over the vehicle’s hood as the driver continued without stopping. Lemons was formally charged in court on April 25.

 

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Ross’s family during this time.
