Fatal Lexington DUI hit-and-run death of Joshua Hampton – Obituary

Joshua Hampton, a 32-year-old resident of Lily, Kentucky, has died following a DUI-related hit-and-run incident in Lexington. The crash occurred on April 16, 2025, when Hampton was struck by a vehicle while walking along Georgetown Road.

 

According to police, the driver, 29-year-old Jaime Caldwell, fled the scene after hitting Hampton. Authorities later located Caldwell at Glendover Elementary School, where she was employed. Officers reported that Caldwell smelled strongly of alcohol upon contact.

 

Hampton sustained critical injuries and passed away two days later on April 18, according to Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn.

 

Caldwell has been charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident involving death or serious injury. The case has been presented to a grand jury, and Caldwell is currently under house arrest while the investigation continues.
