Fatal Glastonbury pedestrian crash death of Phillip Burleson – Obituary
Phillip Burleson, a 61-year-old resident of Glastonbury, was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing Glastonbury Boulevard on the evening of January 11, 2025. He was walking across the road with two others when a westbound vehicle hit him.
Police reported that the group was inside a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash. Burleson sustained serious injuries and died days later as a result. His death was confirmed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in mid-March.
Authorities later identified the driver as 69-year-old Michael Taylor of Glastonbury. On April 24, Taylor was arrested and charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, failure to yield to a pedestrian, and traveling at an unreasonable speed.
Taylor remained at the scene following the collision and cooperated with investigators. He was released on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 15. The investigation concluded that the crash occurred despite the pedestrians having the right of way.
