Fatal Obetz pedestrian accident death of Reico Ray Lewis – Obituary
Eighteen-year-old Reico Ray Lewis lost his life after being struck by a tractor-trailer in Obetz, Ohio, on the night of April 22, 2025. The Franklin County Coroner’s Office confirmed his death earlier this week.
The accident happened around 9:15 p.m. on Alum Creek Drive, shortly after Reico had finished his shift at a local Wendy’s. According to the police report, he was crossing the road in a crosswalk with the light in his favor when the truck hit him. The truck driver, who initially didn’t realize a collision had occurred, stopped further down the road and called 911.
Reico’s aunt, Elizabeth Lewis, described him as a kind, hardworking young man with dreams of traveling to Japan. She had become his guardian after his father passed away from lung cancer in January 2024, and his mother died when Reico was just six weeks old.
Elizabeth said Reico had been looking forward to graduating high school and had stayed away from trouble. She emphasized that he had a positive outlook on life and was full of energy.
After being rushed to Grant Medical Center, doctors informed the family that his injuries were too severe for survival. The tragedy has left the family grieving and searching for answers. They’re questioning how such a tall, visible pedestrian could have gone unnoticed by the driver.
The family has vowed to seek justice for Reico and ensure his death is not forgotten. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with funeral expenses.
