Fatal Phoenix pedestrian accident death of Sheila Hipps – Obituary

Sheila Hipps, 88, lost her life after being struck by a vehicle while walking across 16th Street near Morten Avenue in Phoenix on the morning of April 27, 2025. Emergency responders transported her to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

 

According to investigators, the collision took place just before 10 a.m., and the driver involved remained at the location following the incident. At this time, no arrests or citations have been issued, and the investigation is still ongoing.

 

Phoenix police are continuing to examine the circumstances that led to the deadly accident. Arizona has long struggled with high rates of pedestrian fatalities, ranking among the worst in the country for such incidents. From 2017 to 2019 alone, over 660 pedestrian deaths were reported statewide.
