Fatal Kingsbridge, Devon road death of Aimee Pike – Obituary

Aimee Pike, 22, was tragically found dead on the A379 Embankment Road in Kingsbridge during the early hours of April 23. Emergency responders attempted to save her, but she was declared deceased at the scene. Her family has since been notified.

Following her death, authorities launched a murder investigation, which led to the arrest of Rowan Sutton, a 30-year-old man from West Charleton Court. He has been formally charged with murder and appeared briefly at Plymouth Crown Court for a bail hearing. Sutton, identified as Aimee’s partner, is expected to enter a plea in court on June 6.

The couple, both photography enthusiasts, had previously captured images of the Aurora Borealis over Devon using only a smartphone in 2024.

In a heartfelt tribute, Reverend Mark Neave shared a message on the West Charleton Village Community page, stating that St Mary’s Church would remain open during daylight hours to give community members a place to reflect, pray, and light candles in memory of Aimee.

In addition, a man in his 50s has been questioned under caution in connection with the incident. He was interviewed voluntarily on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has been released pending further investigation.
